Black Dog Yoga's Teacher Training Final

Today Peter, Sigrid, Jenny, Margaret and I, watched the students of our 200-hour Teacher Training teach a full class for their final. Each student had been given a 10-minute slot with several poses that they had to teach, a theme, and sometimes also a pranayama. Everyone knew before hand what they were teaching so they had time to prepare. But that said, it was incredibly challenging to fit into 10 minutes all that was asked of them. And yet they all- all of them- rose to the occasion teaching beautifully a full-spectrum, mixed level class so well that it blew all of us away.

Every teacher training group is special and unique. This particular group had a tight bond and felt very mature and knowledgeable. They really moved us with their depth of sharing. And all of us teachers agreed that it was the best final we had ever witnessed. What a gift to be part of a training taught by teachers from different styles of Hatha yoga! What a great message to be sending out to the yoga community. And, personally, what a gift to do this training and then come next January, teach an Anusara Teacher Training with Keric. How great that we are free to explore and try all the styles that are out there. And when we find a style we love, what a treat to be able to go deep into that style and become immersed and proficient in it.

So today I honor Black Dog's Winter 2011 Teacher Training!
I salute:

Jen's sweetness and her sublime description of the Om.
Lynn's humor and power as a teacher.
Gene's clear instructions on a challenging yet fun, standing pose sequence.
Rebecca M. flawless teaching of a pose that was scary for her.
Michelle's friendliness and accessible nature coupled with her knowledge and confidence.
Izzy's formidable teaching.
Rebecca H. love for yoga and her desire to be of service with her entire soul.
Katie's courage and sensitivity.
Tina's transformation and solid closing.

I also salute my fellow teachers:
Peter for being one of the most gracious and kind yogis. And for inviting me to take part in this training.
Sigrid for being the mother of the training, for writing the manual and keeping the structure loose to fit all of our differences, yet contained enough to allow for incredible transformations to happen.
Jenny for being my best friend and sister, and one of the most kick-ass, wonderful teachers out there.
Margaret for her supreme elegance with her practice and words. For the calm and clear way her mind works.

Ah, what a good feeling when it all goes well...

Have a good night everyone!

And see you tomorrow at the party.

Love you all and Namaste.
