Tara

My good friend, teacher and sadhana-sister Tara Judelle is in town from Bali. I was fortunate to be able to go to Yoga Glo on both Saturday and Sunday to study with her. I've known Tara for many years, since 2003. We met back at City Yoga and I remember taking my first Practice with Naime and how she helped me in Urdhva Dhanurasana. I also remember loving her classes. We both taught at City at the same time and became good friends.

It's a lovely aspect of my yoga journey when I recognize that someone is not only a good friend but also one of my most meaningful teachers. Sometimes I miss those teachers who happen to be close friends. I might take them for granted? Sometimes it's years later when I realize how much someone taught me and how grateful I am for all that they gave to me. I always thought of John, Naime, Sianna as my main teachers. But lately I have been discovering how many teachers I have, and of those, how many are dear close friends of mine. It is quite humbling and exciting!

Tara is one of them. She personally has brought so much to my life. She is crazy brilliant, irreverent, so funny, smart, sassy and has the most open practice. She has a thirst for learning and a great eye for studying with innovative thinkers. It was because of her (and also Kris N) that I was able to get into Sally Kempton's meditation teacher training many years ago and that helped solidify my relationship to Sally. It was a small group of us that were at Sally's meditation teacher training and I will always treasure that time of my life. Then I was able to take part (also with Tara) in Sally's six-month workshop on the Siva Sutras. Another great gift to my life!

It was because of Tara that I started to study more with Carlos Pomeda.
I heard of Adhyashanti first from Tara.
I heard about Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen because of her.
So many gifts have come from her curiosity, gifts that have enhanced my life.

Now we are both (together with Michelle P) driving towards Esalen this weekend, to study with Sally Kempton. Tara will be teaching yoga and together we will all be studying with Sally and meditating in Big Sur.

Thank you Tara-Ji for your endless curiosity!
For the many years of friendship.
For the laughter, the irreverence, the learning!
May we continue to evolve individually and together.
See you soon my sister.
