So many blessings

I was feeling overwhelmed and busy last week; I even wrote about it. Then I had a great lunch with one of my best friends, Mackie. She listened compassionately and then offered me the insight of looking at my life from a different lens. She reminded me to see all that I have going on in my life as blessings. If I look at my life from a place of feeling overwhelmed then I take on more of a victim role. But if I see it as the life I am creating -an exciting and thriving life-then I can look at it from a different place.

Her advice really did help. This week, even though I taught the same number of classes, (including three classes yesterday at 9 AM, 12:30 PM and 6PM at Still), I found that I didn't feel overwhelmed at all. I meditated, wrote, read and did restorative between the classes. I gathered my strength, reminding myself how much I love to teach and gave it my all!

Some highlights this week for me included:
*Doing hip-openers and Lotus on the evening classes at Black Dog.
*Celebrating my dear Cassie Crespo's birthday in my Wed morning class at BD, with her favorite poses: Hanuman and Full Pigeons.
*Going back to basics on my Tuesday morning class and doing tons of twists in the Thursday morning class at Still.
*Having a great and simple restorative class yesterday.
*And, The Practice classes at 12:30: On Tuesday we worked on anatomy and very specific focus on the fingers and on the IlioPsoas. On Thursday my best friend Jenny came, Carolyn, Elena, Krystoff and we just had truly one of the funnest times ever. We did tons of wall stuff in standing poses and some arm balances. Really creative fun stuff that allowed us to feel more Organic Energy. Then we played with a bunch of arm balances, hip-openers and shoulder stretches. Then we culminated in over 10 different Urdhva Dhanurasanas! We finished with a nice restorative and Jenny who is a tough one to please said that class was amazing, that she never felt better afterwards and that she would be there next week. I felt like I won the lottery!
How blessed am I?

Whenever I practice with the students my mind works on a different level and I go to a place of deeper intuition and inspiration. I get so much ideas from doing the poses as I am teaching them. And those ideas are starting to feed my other regular classes.
Such a great week!

Before I forget, my friend, teacher and sadhana sister Tara Judelle is in town. She will be teaching classes at Yoga Glo so please check the Yoga Glo schedule so you can come and support her.

Tonight I teach at Black Dog's Teacher Training. I am looking forward to being with the students.

And mostly, I am looking forward to remembering how many blessings I have in my life and not get so overwhelmed that I miss them.
Thank you Mackie!
Thank you life!
Thank you crazy schedule!
Thank you ebbs and flows!
Thank you to all the blessings that we have and to all the blessings that we have forgotten...

Thank you Maria ! I needed this sooo much.
Today,(even though it is only 9:30am) I have been struggling with overwhelm, my life seems to be washing over me in a great torrent of busy-ness as I strive to focus on my hearts expression. Seems like I am reaching for my inspirations like small islands amidst a swirling current.
Reading your re-cap and re-focus helped me to remember perspective too.
What blessing friends are !, how our friends hold our hearts and shine us back at ourselves. <3

    Maria-bella,
Now it is the end of the workday and I just made myself a nice cup of tea before I get into my car to drive home. It's Yogi tea and each bag has a little 'fortune' on the tag. I find it a perfect compliment to my earlier post:
"You must know that you can swim through every tide and change of time."
