Mami in Restorative
Yesterday's Restorative class at Still was magical. My Mom came and everyone loved her. She was so cute, nice and friendly to everyone. We had a nice big class- almost 20 people in the room. The lovely Casey was assisting me and was so helpful. Carolyn Hughes -wonderful teacher and friend- sat next to Mom and also helped her.
I designed a sequence for sufferers of Jet Lag, since Mom was so tired from her travels. Also Francesca and Allyson were in class and they had returned from Italy and Montenegro respectively. So we did some Legs up the Wall, twists, some calming poses and Savasana.
At one moment in class I instructed the students to roll over into a fetal pose and my Mom was not doing it. I repeated and I said
"Mom, roll over into a fetal pose." She wasn't doing it.
"Fetal pose, Mom, you know, like a baby."
And she said out loud, "But I was born this way!" And everyone lost it!
My Mom is a natural comic and so sweet and charismatic.
She loved the class and was quite effusive in her praise towards me. Afterwards I drove her to Canelé restaurant, where I go every Thursday. We were going to meet with my brother for dinner. On our drive there my Mom said that if she were to die just now she would die a proud and happy woman. She said she was so proud of my brother and I. That she is seeing our lives, what we are doing and she could not be prouder of us. My heart is full! Thank you Mamita.
I'm off to teach two privates. Later tonight we have a dinner party at Michelle's for Hagar and Andrew's wedding. Tomorrow is the wedding and I am so excited for my Hagar!
Lastly, here is a gratitude for today for my father on his upcoming birthday.
Papito: Thank you for instilling the love of food. You are a true connoisseur of food and taught me how to love and explore different tastes. To this day I think of you and treasure the gift of my love for epicurean delights back to you! Gracias. Bendición.
