home practice in the park
I taught two privates today and had the rest of the day off.
Had lunch with my friend and teacher Tanya. We had such a good time at M cafe- we were there for two hours! I adore and respect her so much, and wanted to take her out for her birthday.
Then got home and went to the park, where I practice most of my yoga.
I so love practicing in the park.
I look up at the sky as I do Urdhva Hastasana.
I look down at the blades of grass, the ants, little strange insects and the moist earth as I do uttanasana.
I twist to my left and see my building, which was built in the 1920's and is the color of the bluest sky.
I twist to the other side and there's a dog fetching a ball.
Inhale to Cobra and there's my neighbor Sara watering the plants.
Exhale Down Dog and there's an old tree standing there, almost unnoticeable because it's so big.
After a few asanas, I find my energy.
The poses flow organically- why can't I teach like I practice?
If I could teach so freely, so openly, classes would be packed.
If I would trust more my intuition when I teach, I would be a better teacher.
Sun salutes.
Go into Warrior 2 to Reverse Warrior.
Warrior 1 to Reverse Half Moon, to Half Moon to Handstand
Tree
Vasisthasana with Tree leg.
Feel like sitting.
Janu sirsasana. Ardha Matsyendrasana. Agni Stambhasana.
Feel like backbending, so Dhanurasana.
And then suddenly -why not- Drop Backs.
Do 1, 2, 3, 4, 5!
I take my time, slowly enjoying the view as I drop back. Each time I drop, the fall is more contained, more restrained.
There is no pain. There is no excess effort. Just ease and the thrill of dropping back.
Start to wind down doing some very slow Surya Namaskars with a block between my thighs to engage the adductors, which are the primary muscles responsible for moving the thighs back.
Parsvottanasana
Down Dog
Bharadvajasana 1
Windshield Wipers
Savasana.
I feel the sun on my skin.
I'm so blessed.

This enchanting entry reads like poetry.
I especially like the line, "there's an old tree standing there, almost unnoticeable because it's so big." Like the goodness of the universe, and love...
You are a blessing to us all, sweet MariaCristinaYogi.
