My friends Jo and Guillaume recently went through one of the most devastating events that can ever happen to anyone, they lost their baby a month before she was due to come to this world.
Many people in the yoga community have rallied around them, and have been there with food, support, letters, calls...
Several of us teachers at Still Yoga have also been teaching -per Jo and Guillaume's request- 10 sun salutes in honor of their baby until this week, which was little baby Sophie's due date...
It has been an incredibly sad time. And it has been an honor to witness their love and resilience.
One of the ways I've been there for them was by offering Restorative Yoga classes to both.
I went to their house and gave them several sessions and they were really grateful; really grateful. It was an honor for me to be of service and to watch how this healing yoga has the power to help those who need to rest and relax.
The last time I was there, Jo and Guillaume surprised me by saying that they wanted to write a testimonial for my website.
"A testimonial? For me?" I asked. I never in my life have ever asked, much less imagined anyone writing a testimonial about me.
And here are these two angels, who are going through such pain and sorrow, offering to write something for me.
Tears formed in my eyes and I said yes, and the next day I got this testimonial via email...
We discovered Maria Cristina's restorative Yoga at one of the saddest moments of our lives — after our baby passed away. Needless to say, much physical and emotional distress accompanies such an event — and finding the right support was not easy. On our way back to wholeness, Maria Cristina's Yoga is bringing peace and relief into our broken world.
Her technique and professionalism are impeccable, and she adapts amazingly well to our personalities and needs. But most importantly, the love, care and nurturing she puts into her practice is extraordinary. Her healing presence is felt from the start of each session and stays with us long after it's over…
Thank you so much Maria Cristina for helping us with our healing process — you are amazing."
I am so stunned by their generosity, especially at this point in their lives.
They inspire me to be strong, to be loving, no matter what.
They have become two of my teachers.
To Jo and Guillaume and baby Sophie: You are so loved.
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much.

What a thoughtful and helpful gift you offered in a time of great need; and to accept their offer to give back through their testimonial was another act of sensitive generosity. Reply to this
