Winter Solstice

Happy Winter Solstice! The shortest day of the year (in this part of the hemisphere), the longest night of the year!
This is the time to plant seeds. To turn inwards: honor what is there, release what needs to be released and celebrate the coming light.

I have printed an article John once wrote in the Anusara website. And in it he gives advice for teachers and asks them to ponder several questions and to journal their way into answers.

I think that today is an auspicious time to ponder these questions, especially as we get ready to welcome the next year.
So to any fellow teachers who are reading this- here are some questions written by John, to contemplate and to help us yoga teachers develop our themes for the upcoming year.

1. What is one key positive trait that you have developed within yourself in the last year?

2. How has the practice of Anusara Yoga helped you cultivate this trait within yourself?

3. What specific poses did you practice that particularly helped you to embody this heart quality?

4. What particular principle(s) of alignment did you focus on in these poses which were connected to this virtue?

5. How has this heart quality manifested itself outside the classroom?

Have fun exploring the inner landscape and many blessings.
