Celebrating Space
Moving stuff around my apartment. Ikea-ing our way into new furniture, clearing drawers, closets, etc. And all I can think about is how much space there is now. How come I didn't know I had so many things hidden in my studio apartment? Like a beautiful yellow scarf, some hiking shoes, a cuisinart!
There is so much hidden, if we only clear the clutter away.
I've been inspired to teach about how our yoga practice is a way of rearranging our internal furniture so that we can connect to the vast spaciousness inside...

*Another highlight was having the students practice Eka Pada Bakasana #1 with a block on their forehead, so that they have something to press out against. I found that I can do my "weak" side when I use the block. Many found it helpful.
Something to remember:
Have been starting my classes with Surya Namaskars; getting people moving, in a loving way, and with a connection to their breath, right off the bat. Have noticed that it gets people more centered. Calms their minds. Have tried to keep minimal instruction in the beginning and the as class progresses, I give more instructions and there is less and less vinyasa. I think it's working.
