Moving from the highest

Saw Michael Moore's documentary CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY. Whenever I see one of Michael Moore's movies I go through my own version of  Elizabeth Kubler Ross' stages of grief: I feel shock, anger, sadness, hopelessness... I feel really bummed. And then slowly, I start to feel better and I realize that with more knowledge I have a greater ability to make better choices in my life.

And yoga for me is about that- it's about being able to make the best choices in every pose, in every situation, in every moment, and in doing that we can move from our best place. We can respond to a situation from the best part of us, instead of reacting from the lowest.

Theme:
Moving from the highest.

Highlights:
*We used a block between our thighs in the beginning poses as a symbol of hugging in every part of the body, so that we could move from a more centered place.
*We did arm balances, including eka pada galavasana. The key to arm balances is to hug in to the midline.

Something to work on:
I noticed last night that I didn't have a theme ready for class and I was starting to worry. I was worried while watching Michael Moore's movie because I would think every once in a while that I didn't have a class ready and it would take me away from the movie. And then when I got home I realized that the theme came from the movie itself! So I would love it if I could worry less. Themes and classes have a way of coming together in the end. We don't have to create a perfect class, we can show up, be present, do our best and trust more.
